Our story
The idea for The Little Village Collective was born during a family trip to the UK in August 2025. While visiting our family we discovered an indoor play cafe in their local town. Something about it felt different straight away.
Our daughter played beautifully and independently. The space felt calm and intentional. The coffee was genuinely good and being out with our strong willed threenager child felt genuinely easy.
It was indoors, protected from the heat of summer and the rain of winter and designed to slow everything down. In that moment, it became clear this was something families in Adelaide needed.
Selfishly, I needed this too.

Why we’re here
Motherhood can be incredibly beautiful and incredibly heavy.
After a challenging pregnancy and a long, traumatic birth, I experienced postnatal anxiety and depression while navigating significant family changes. The days were long. The summer heat made leaving the house difficult and finding places where I could take my loud, unsettled baby without feeling judged or out of place felt almost impossible.
What I needed did not exist.
I needed a place that felt calm. A place to slow down and connect. A place where my child could play safely and independently if she wished. A place where I could enjoy my coffee without onlookers' eyes telling me my child was too loud or shouldn’t be crawling around on the floor. Most of all, I needed to feel held by a village I did not have.
So I created one.
The Little Village Collective & The Little Southern Village
The Little Village Collective is the parent brand created to build thoughtful, community-focused play villages for families.
Our first location is The Little Southern Village, an indoor play café located in O’Halloran Hill. This village brings our values to life through calm, imagination-led role play for children aged 0–7, paired with a welcoming café space designed for caregivers.
The Little Southern Village reflects everything The Little Village Co. stands for. It is the first step in creating spaces families can grow with over time.
Our approach to playAt the heart of The Little Southern Village is a belief that play is how children learn about the world.
Guided by play pedagogy, the village supports child-led exploration through open-ended role play. Children develop communication skills, empathy, cooperation, emotional regulation, and confidence through meaningful interactions.
Practical life skills such as numeracy, literacy, problem-solving, and motor coordination are woven naturally into everyday play. Learning happens without pressure or expectation. Children explore at their own pace.
A space for caregiversThe Little Southern Village was designed with caregivers in mind.
Parenting can feel relentless. This is a space where families can arrive exactly as they are. Children are free to play. Caregivers are free to pause.
Whether you are meeting a friend, sitting quietly with a coffee or simply taking a breath while your child plays nearby, you are welcome here. This space was designed for you too.
More than a play cafeThe Little Southern Village is more than a place to play.
It is a village hub. A space for school holidays, events, birthdays and everyday connection. A place for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and school-aged children to enjoy throughout different stages of childhood.
It is also a space that supports the parenting journey. Through workshops, information sessions and child free caregiver-focused events, the village exists to care for the whole family and make every day a little easier.
This is your village too.
At The Little Village Co., our values are simple;
Calm over chaos
Connection over convenience
Quality over
quantity
Inclusive and
welcoming spaces
Environmentally conscious choices
Spaces that feel
like a warm hug
Our hope
When families walk into The Little Southern Village, we want them to feel supported. We want them to feel relief. We want them to feel excited to return, not only because their children love it, but because they do too.
